More Hours, More Staff and More Opportunities to Help Our Neighbors!

Last March Orion Communities began a new chapter in serving its mission. The organization transitioned to a volunteer run operation with reduced hours to better evaluate the community needs and to determine proper direction moving forward. The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the results of this transition.

Increased Hours and Staffing
The Orion Communities office is now open 5 days peropen-sign week and 2 evenings. At a minimum, the office will be open 9am – 2pm Monday through Friday and Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 6pm – 8pm.

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce some new additions at Orion Communities:

  • Kristin Keller has agreed to be Orion’s Executive Director. As a member of our transition team, Kris helped us focus on creating a sustainable organization to meet the needs in the community. She is a long time Phoenixville resident, business owner and volunteer. Kris has an MBA in marketing and program management.
  • We recently hired Erica Murphy as Orion’s Office Manager. Erica has a bachelor’s degree in Business-Finance, 20 years of experience in business & management and an enthusiasm for helping others.
  • Plus Orion is excited to have Art Munson join the Board as Treasurer. Art is a long-time member of the community. He has many years of experience serving in management, financial, and board roles with a variety of non-profit organizations.

These individuals join a strong core of social workers and case managers with many years of experience servicing our most vulnerable neighbors.

handsOrion continues to advocate for the most vulnerable in the greater Phoenixville area and is regenerating the Community Emergency Fund to support neighbors with pressing financial needs, such as food, housing and transportation. Over the past 9 months, conversations within the community and with our clients have confirmed the need for this work, particularly for individuals and families who may not qualify for the services of other organizations. We intend to continue to work with and support our neighbors in need.

The Board thanks you for your support and encouragement during this transition. Please stop by and say hello or let us know of someone whom we may be able to serve.

President, Board of Directors
