After earning a BS in Computer Science from Loyola University New Orleans in 1983, I landed a temporary job in Malvern to earn some money while searching for a “real” career. Four decades later, I’m still working in the same “temporary” job at what is now Oracle corporation.

Alongside my professional work, I’m actively involved in volunteering in and around Phoenixville. The majority of my time is split between the Orion Tech Committee and coaching teenage girls’ fastpitch softball (which we practice and play year-round). Additionally, I’m part of a group of good friends who assist small, local nonprofits with computer-related issues.

Originally from Long Beach Island, NJ, I now reside with my family in the western “suburbs” of Phoenixville.

Elizabeth Rivera Ruiz

Board Member

Elizabeth is a member of Vanguard Community Stewardship, a former leader of the Hometown Grants Committee, and a current leader of Events and Onboarding for HOLA.  She enjoys collaborating with charities, developing people to thrive, and promoting outcomes in the community both on a personal and professional level. She is originally from Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. She moved to the USA in 2010 to work as an Au Pair for a family in the Phoenixville area. Later, she became a certified Preschool Teacher and worked in the Early Childhood field for five years. As with many immigrant stories, she worked in the daytime and studied at night. She has faced many challenges; however, she was lucky to have a handful of people who helped her along the way. Because of her firsthand experiences, she gives back to the community and says, “You will be surprised how much kindness, and a little bit of help can change someone’s life.”

Elizabeth is an MBA graduate from West Chester University, and she started her Vanguard journey in 2019 in the Finance Division under Corporate Actions. Elizabeth is a global team manager and supports the Fixed Income and Equity trading desks through Corporate Actions analysis and data functions. Before that, she rotated through distinct roles in the Finance and Personal Investor division.  She has driven impactful monetary outcomes through her role with different projects providing liquidity and trade insight to the Fixed Income Group. Her experience has taken her to work as a Work Force Analyst, where she presented analytic insight and advice to senior divisional leaders on the short-term workforce strategy, recommending management solutions, implementing technology, and forecasting demand and supply drivers for Vanguard’s cost centers.

Outside of Vanguard and Charity work, Elizabeth likes to keep herself busy. She enjoys international traveling and meeting people from various parts of the world. She challenged herself to learn a third language, “French.” She wrote a children’s book, “The Adventures of Diego & Frida: Dia de Muertos,” to continue sharing knowledge and love for cultures and diversity.

Glenn Moses

Glenn Moses

Emeritus

Glenn started his relationship with Orion back in 1991 when Orion helped him get his first job as part of a program to help people with disabilities secure employment. Glenn explains things were different back then, he didn’t start school until he was 11 years old because the schools didn’t know how to support a student in a wheelchair.

Many things have changed since then. Glenn has a powered ’all terrain’ wheelchair that allows him to go participate in virtually any activity including two of his favorites – camping and attending outdoor concerts.  One of his favorite trips was to scenic Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Glenn has been on Orion’s Board for over 10 years and can be found volunteering at the front desk on Thursdays and Fridays.
